SI Joint Dysfunction

The sacroiliac (SI) joints connect the base of the spine to the pelvis, and when they become restricted, inflamed, or move abnormally, they can cause pain in the lower back, buttock, hip, and sometimes down the leg, often mistaken for sciatica or a disc problem. SI joint dysfunction is common after pregnancy, trauma, or repetitive asymmetrical movement, and it’s often aggravated by prolonged sitting, standing, or climbing stairs.

How We Treat SI Joint Dysfunction at Club West Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is the primary treatment for SI joint dysfunction at our office. Our chiropractors use specific adjustments to restore proper motion and alignment to the sacroiliac joint and surrounding pelvis, relieving pressure and correcting the mechanical imbalance causing your pain.

To support the adjustment, we may recommend massage therapy to relax the surrounding hip and lower back musculature, which can pull the pelvis out of alignment when tight, and acupuncture to help calm inflammation and reduce pain around the joint. These are typically used as light, supportive additions to your chiropractic care rather than the main focus of treatment.
