Go light on the pasta’s and heavy meals the night before!
You should be reaching for the good quality proteins! Proteins will help replenish your muscles when race time comes.
Don’t just eat a good quality meal packed with carbs and proteins the night before. Start weeks before! You should be fueling your body with the proper nutrients throughout the entire training session. If you feed your body properly while training there is no need to eat more or differently the night before the big race.
Listen to your body!
Most people say you shouldn’t eat a couple of hours before the race. I say listen to your body! If you are hungry- eat. Be careful you know the difference between being hungry and being nervous hungry. If you are nervous, don’t just eat to eat. Eat when you are hungry.
Make sure you have energy replacement
At the beginning of the race you will feel pumped up and energized due to adrenaline. You will be using a lot of energy, so be ready when the adrenaline wears off. Use gels or whatever energy replacement you trained with to refuel your body.
Take care of your body post race!
Sprains/Strains are very common following a triathlon. If you are in pain following the race, it is not a bad idea to get checked by a chiropractor.
